A woman and her dog come apart alongside the post-apocalyptic world around them. Sava built the film on a structural parallel and said so plainly when he joined the room from Bucharest: a civilization in collapse set against a living creature in a coma, two failures running at the same tempo. He drew the second from his own life. It is his second win at the festival.

Adapted from a scene in a novel Matter wrote, set in late 16th-century England, where a young commoner finds a rare gemstone. The film takes place inside a single building, which he modeled in Blender, textured in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, and completed by projecting photography onto the geometry and inpainting until the surfaces held. Only then did he shoot inside it, using Seedance and Runway, with AudioStack, Suno and ElevenLabs for sound. Asked from the floor what it cost, he said about $900.

Set inside one of the fortified compounds where trafficked workers are forced to run telephone and video fraud against victims overseas, with a different confidence scheme each episode, each drawn from documented cases. The series does not show the violence and sexual abuse inflicted on the young women held there. It shows the scars, and lets the audience understand the rest. Every episode runs under two minutes and closes on a real news headline.

Answering the first question of the day, Mongeau was precise about authorship: the imagery and voices were generative, while the score was written and produced by the composer Gregory Sharpen and is entirely original.

Its vocal was recorded on a telephone three thousand miles from the filmmaker, and the performer at its center is a live actress within an entirely generated frame.

Stewart is a Nationwide insurance broker in Carson, California, and had not made a film before; she built the series after concluding that consultations and printed material were not reaching her clients. She accepted the trophy on stage and said afterward that she had spent the afternoon taking notes on the other filmmakers for a second season.
